A common question we get on the first franchise call: 'How long until I'm actually making sales?' Fair question — and one where most franchise brands give a vague 'a few weeks.' Here's the actual TBWX timeline.
Typical end-to-end: 45-60 days from signed agreement to opening day. Some partners have gone live in 30 days (experienced operators with ready sites). Some take 75 days (partners still scouting real estate post-signing).
Day 0-3: Discovery
You fill the [apply form](/franchise/apply). Our franchise team calls you within 24 working hours.
What we discuss on the call:
Your city and target neighborhood.
Your investment readiness (Rs 3-5 Lakh confirmed liquid).
Your operator role — will you run it, or hire a manager?
Your timeframe (immediate, 1-3 months, 3-6 months).
Your food-business experience (zero experience is fine; we train).
At the end of this call, we either move to a site-hunt stage, send you a franchise information document, or occasionally, tell you TBWX isn't the right fit right now.
Day 3-14: Site hunt
This is the stage with the widest range — it depends on whether you already have a shortlisted site.
If you have a site ready (2-5 days):
You send us photos, street-view coordinates, rent, sq ft, landlord terms.
Our team runs a site fitness check — footfall estimate, competitor density, visibility, delivery viability.
We either approve the site or flag what's missing. About 40% of proposed sites get a 'look elsewhere' — we'd rather lose you a fee than set you up to struggle.
If you're still site-hunting (2-6 weeks):
We give you a site brief for your city — what footfall count matters, what floor, what facade visibility, what nearby tenant mix works.
You visit 5-15 sites. Typical partners close on site 3-5.
We negotiate the lease only if you ask us to; otherwise we coach you on terms to push back on.
Day 14-20: Franchise agreement
Once site is approved, you sign the franchise agreement.
What you receive after signing:
Full operations manual (120+ page document with every recipe, prep checklist, cleaning schedule, SOPs).
Equipment vendor list with pre-negotiated franchise pricing.
Compliance partner introduction (for FSSAI, GST, Shops and Establishment, etc.).
Your territorial exclusivity in writing.
Brand asset pack (logos, signage templates, menu boards, social media templates).
What you pay at this stage:
Franchise fee (Rs 1,25,000).
Approximately 25-40% of equipment cost as vendor advance.
Day 20-45: Fit-out and equipment
Three parallel workstreams:
Outlet fit-out (15-25 days):
Electrical + plumbing prep for kitchen equipment load.
Flooring, wall treatments in TBWX dark-luxe aesthetic.
Counter construction.
Outdoor signage + neon 'Just Waffle It' mounting.
Menu board installation.
Seating if applicable.
TBWX does not physically execute the fit-out (that's a local civil contractor) but we review drawings and inspect progress remotely via photos/video walkthroughs.
Equipment delivery and commissioning (10-15 days):
Belgian waffle iron, Bubble waffle iron, poffertjes griddle, blender, soft-serve, refrigeration, stoves, panini press.
Arrives from our approved vendors; our brand team coordinates the schedule.
Commissioning and first test runs with our trainer on site.
Licenses and registrations (parallel, 7-15 days):
FSSAI, GST, Shops and Establishment, Trade License, Fire NOC if required.
Handled by the compliance partner with your participation.
Government timing is the variable — most cities clear in 7-15 days.
Day 40-55: Training and staff hiring
Owner training (3 days at a TBWX flagship outlet):
Day 1: Belgian waffle iron + Bubble waffle iron. Cook 50 waffles on each. Learn plating.
Day 2: Soft serve + Shakes + Summer Coolers. 30 drinks across the menu.
Day 3: Mini Bubble Pancakes + Savory + Waffle Cake finishing. Plus register, Zomato/Swiggy app, cleanup routines.
Staff hiring (parallel, 5-10 days):
We recommend 2-3 operators to start, depending on outlet size.
TBWX shares an interview checklist + salary benchmarks for your city.
You hire; our trainer does on-site induction for your staff (3 days at your outlet).
Day 55-60: Soft launch + Zomato/Swiggy onboarding
The last mile.
Menu photography (1 day):
Our content team (or certified freelance photographer) shoots your outlet's menu for Zomato, Swiggy, Google Business Profile.
Photos are standardized across all TBWX outlets for brand consistency.
Zomato + Swiggy listing (3-5 days to go live):
Our brand team submits menu, photos, pricing, open hours.
You confirm the listing on the merchant dashboard.
First delivery orders come in by day 2-3 of going live.
Soft launch (3-5 days):
Invitation-only for friends, family, neighborhood shop owners.
Free samples for staff at neighboring businesses.
Debug any ops issues (POS glitches, recipe inconsistencies, speed bottlenecks).
Public launch (Day 60):
Instagram, local influencer posts, Meta + Google Ads launch.
Zomato/Swiggy listings go to full visibility.
Grand-opening offer (typically a free Bubble Waffle with any order over Rs 300, or 20% off first-time customers).
What could slow the timeline
In honest decreasing order of impact:
1. Site not finalized at signing. If you sign hoping to find a site 'soon,' expect 30-45 days of site hunting before fit-out starts.
2. Civil work complications. Electrical load issues, water line extension, slow landlord approvals. Can add 10-20 days.
3. License delays. Some cities are faster than others. Municipal trade license delays have held up 2 outlets by 2-3 weeks each in the past year.
4. Staff hiring. In some tier-2 cities, hiring qualified service staff takes 15-20 days, which can push soft launch.
What could speed it up
Partners who hit the 30-45 day range typically have:
Site finalized before signing (7-10 days saved).
Prior food-business experience (training shortens from 3 days to 2).
Staff already identified (relatives, existing business employees).
All licenses pre-initiated through a compliance consultant they've used before.
The bottom line
If you're serious about opening in the next 2-3 months, sign soon and site-hunt in parallel. If you're on a 3-6 month horizon, start the conversation now so you're ready to sign when your site is locked.
